Hi, I'm Bhauraw
I teach piano lessons
(It's pronounced like 'borrow')
My Musical Jouney
From the age of five, I developed a strong love of music. I was fortunate enough to have my parents enroll me in classical piano lessons and while I didn't exactly love practicing, it granted me a rock solid foundation for when I decided to pursue it professionally.
Since then, I continued studying and performing through high school, graduated from the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase, worked as a performing musician living in Philadelphia and started my own private music school in 2009. I am also a pop music producer that works with independent artists all around the globe.
After over a dozen years of teaching lessons in the Princeton and New Hope area, my wife and I have purchased and moved to our first home in Haddon Heights, NJ.

My Process
I've found that learning an instrument is a lot like learning a sport: you start with the fundamentals. Learning the rules of the game, how to play, developing proper technique, the vocabulary and terms, all while getting coached along the way.
And like a sport, one of the most important factors in progression is practice.
(I really can't stress enough how important practice is.)
Music can be incredibly rewarding and fun to do so I try to keep lessons engaging and entertaining while still sticking to our goals and making progress. I grew up with the stuffy old teacher and I know it wasn't much fun!
That being said, I expect all my students to work, put in the time, and practice daily. I take music very seriously and I don't want to waste anyone's time or money.
What to Expect
For new students, we'll start at the very beginning with Piano Adventures lesson books; breaking things down in easy-to-understand pieces, and go at whatever pace is needed. I've learned that every student is different and that they all don't learn at the same pace or in the same way.
After they get a basic grasp of piano, the real work will start. I have all my students study and participate in testing with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM).
Topics that we cover, and will be tested on, include: sight reading, ear training, music theory, musicality / artistry, and learning three new classical pieces for each exam.
I've found this structure gives us a clear cut path and set of goals to hit along the way. After each test they'll progress to the next grade and begin prep for the next test.
When and Where
Lessons are taught weekly in my home studio in Haddon Heights or at your home. Lessons are 30 minutes long. I don't take on students under 5 years old and I'm only working with a maximum of 20 students.
Classes are available between 4-8pm Monday through Friday with weekends available if we need to do a make-up class.
I know that students often have other after school activities so I try to be as flexible as possible to make things work within everyones schedule. Parents are welcome to sit in on classes, do work, read a book, or catch up on Netflix and have a glass of wine (no judgement).

What other families are saying
"Bhauraw began teaching our daughters music in 2009 when they were 4 and 6 years old. They both learned the foundation of music theory on piano and later followed their interests to guitar and drums. They enjoy Bhauraw’s lessons because he is passionate about music, he challenges them respectfully, he is responsible, he is an excellent communicator and above all he has maintained a very positive rapport with them for eight years. As a result, they have a terrific appreciation for music in general and they have confidence when approaching the challenges given to them by their school music teachers. We consider ourselves lucky to have met Bhauraw and are very grateful that he has shared his talents with us."
-J. Mauer
